As you know, Moby is constantly passing along interesting information on Moby in the Morning and, from time to time, he likes sharing these tidbits of wit, wisdom and curiosity with his loyal website followers. This page was created just for that. Enjoy.
Moby Presents Dry Creek Oscar to Sheriff -- Moby recently presented the Habersham County Sheriff's Department with a thoroughbred bloodhound, Dry Creek Oscar.
Click Here for a video of the presentation and hear Moby explain how it all happened.
Moby Fends Off Attack Dogs --After the presentation of Dry Creek Oscar, Moby joined the sheriff's department staff for lunch and then got a chance to find out what it's like to be attacked by vicious dogs.

Moby Loses Battle with Christmas Tree and Plaster Wall --Moby said he got eaten up by attack dawgs yesterday, and didn't get a scratch then let a plaster wall and Christmas tree kick his butt the next day. He said, "Busted my head yesterday putting up the last of the Christmas stuff. Bottom of the basement stairs, there's a rough plaster wall. I had a big section of the tree from the fancy living room that we never go in. Thought I was on the bottom step, but I still had one to go. Broke my fall with my forehead on that rough plaster wall.
World War II Posters -- A friend sent these and they are great! I wonder what happened to this kind of thinking. I got a lump in my throat when I saw these. I "grew up" thinking: patriotism, it is the AMERICAN way! I am glad to see somebody saved them. These were our parents. What in God's name have we let happen? I guess we are the last generation to see, or even remember anything like these? Whatever happened? Political correctness (or "re-education") happened, lack of God's name happened, lack of personal responsibility happened, lack of personal integrity and honesty happened, lack of respect and loyalty to our country happened, lack of being an American happened. Dear Sheriff Terrell, 11/17/09
It is with great pleasure and honor to announce that after a great deal of consideration, the Habersham County Sheriff's Department has been selected to receive our offer of a donated bloodhound puppy. This puppy is given in the memory of James Carney's (Moby in the Morning) grandfather (Papaw) Oscar.
Habersham County was nominated by Rob Moore the editor of The Northeast Georgian. Rob provided us with a wealth of information and connected us with Sgt. Sosebee. Sgt. Sosebee, in turn also was a great resource in making our choice.
This puppy is due to be whelped in the next week or so, the projected date is November 26, 2009. The puppy will be selected by Moby and his family, and will be named "Dry Creek Oscar".
An official donation agreement is in the process, to insure that Oscar will be provided the best possible life of service. This agreement will be developed through the collaboration of all parties involved and we do not feel it will be a show stopper for any party involved. We are only concerned for the welfare of all our Dry Creek Bloodhounds!
We look forward to working with the Habersham County Sheriff's Department and in providing the great state of Georgia, an asset in the fight against crime and / or the ability to rescue anyone in need.
Please accept our offer of donation with the agreement details to follow.
Thank you in advance and we look forward to further conversations.

Thank you Moby for selecting the Habersham County Sheriffs Office to receive Dry Creek Oscar. It is an honor to receive such a noble animal in the name of your beloved papaw. The first bloodhound I worked with was Jodi, she was a beautiful black and tan. She was known throughout north Georgia, when I would get called out they would ask me to bring Jodi. I was the man behind the dog that?s all. She taught me more about tracking than any man could. When she turned ten she developed cancer, the vet tried to remove most of it but it was all over. About a week later we got a call in Forsyth County reference to an escape from a work detail, Jodi tracked the two subjects over ten miles and caught them both. She had stitches in her stomach but still pulled me through the briars, creeks and woods. That was her last capture, the vet told me it was time for her to go to rest. I couldn?t do it, had a friend of mine take her to the vet. I believed I cried for a week. But she was buried on a sunny hill where she did most of her training. My little sisters name happened to be Jodi, she always thought she was named after her and that she was her angel. Thanks again Moby you will be proud of Oscar.

Tony and DeAnna/Moby:
That is GREAT news for Habersham County. Thank you so much!
Truly, I am not seeking any credit for the nomination in any part of this and would be happy to be referred to as an anonymous community member. All of the credit belongs to Sgt. Jeff Sosebee and his canine program.
As a father of two boys, 7 years next week and 7 months, and with numerous elderly friends, I know that a bloodhound can be an invaluable tool should one of those ever become lost. I hope and pray that never happens, but it is comforting to know that Dry Creek Oscar and Sgt. Sosebee will be there to do all that they can to find them.
I look forward to seeing Dry Creek Oscar become a lifesaver for the county and our entire area. Let me know when he is ready for his closeup after all the paperwork is done.
Many thanks again for your consideration!
