Necessary Rains

As I watch the rain fall down upon
the eager, thirsty earth,
I wonder if we realize
what each drop is really worth.
To flourish, thrive and blossom,
the porous ground refrains
until it has been greeted by
the necessary rains.
A lifetime is a balance
of peaks and valleys,
highs and lows.
Each hardship, temporary –
like each rain,
it comes and goes.
To weather through the pounding rains,
clouds of trouble,
pain and sorrow,
we must remember that
each storm will pass
and the sun will shine tomorrow.
In our lifetime, as in nature,
there are changes through each season;
every change, it has a purpose,
every rainfall has a reason.
How could anyone know bravery,
if he never knew of fear?
How could anyone love laughter,
if he never shed a tear?
Perhaps the answers will be found
in the days that lie ahead
when we receive one extra blessing
for each tear that we have shed.Do not waste today with worry
on what hasn’t happened yet,
or dwell on yesterday’s occurrences
with questions and regret.
Learn to balance life’s blessings
with its inevitable pain
by considering each and every storm…
a necessary rains.
